Stephen King is one of the best authors I’m the thriller genre, in this article I’m going to be talking about the 7 best books by him, although they’re two short stories and I’ll mentioned the quickly at the end but I wanted to focus on the full size that I have finish with sharing with my opinion and just talk a little bit about them, I originally wanted to try and wit until I’ve read all of his books bit I realize pretty quickly that’s never going to happen and he keeps coming out with so many so quickly that I can’t even keep up, so let’s go through them one by one.
As a disclaimer, this article is going to be spoiler free unless I say so, but I will just instead be a little vague or I’ll warn you, I’m going to start with my favorites because you might possibly ask which one it is and it’s
1.The long walk.
It was originally written under Richard batman but I believed he write 4 books under that name, and I have rear two so this is the first one I did read, and I loved the book so much. Although I don’t hear that many people mentioning it or rarely part of their favorite ones, maybe because it’s not usually hid style that’s why I like it so much.
This is more of a disturbing book instead of being really paranormal, in this world you’re following the long walk which is essentially an event that happens once in a while there a 100 teenage boys was until one last man is standing and that person gets to have one wish, whatever he wants and he’ll be granted it.
So as you can imagine this event lasted for a couple of days, they can’t sleep they can’t stop for anything and after a few warnings and if they find out they can’t keep up, they’re shot in front of everyone else.
So essentially this was a physically and mentally exhausting book to read, it is fairly short, this is a mass marker paperback but my edition has just under 400pages and I was able to put it down and I also kind of watched to put it down, because my legs were literally hurting for the main character, I really enjoyed how you can follow his slow descent into madness and you really feel for the characters, but my only issue was the ending which is usually the case with Stephen King, I also wished there had being more information about how the long walk started basically more about the disturbing world.
But with that said u still think it’s a fantastic book, I totally Recommend it, if you’re looking to pick up a book by him then this is the one.
The second book I’ve read by him that was written under Richard batman is the Running Man which I believe became a movie and I haven’t watched it yet but this one is also completely different still compared to his other stuff this is also a dystopian futuristic works, where as a way to entertain people, there Is a TV show called the Running Man, basically that person has to get to something in this one you’re following a man, who has to go save his daughter, he’s desperate for many and he decides to participate into this TV shows which is extremely intense and violent and he’s been followed and there basically bunch of people who are trying to kill him, and he has to try and survive x amount of time that way he can get enough money To Help his daughter.
It’s again very exhausting, I really did enjoy it, if you’re the type that enjoy action packed movies for example this one would be a great recommendationto get into books that way.
It was also a very quick read but again not his usual style but I did enjoy it.
The next one is something that was recommended, as my first read by him, the one to pick up first and I did that Is the gas linger the first book in the dark tower series and this one was the most horrible book, I’ve ever read.
I do understand that this is part of the universe that he creates and how basically all if his books are in the same world kind of linked and my issue is that this was so painful and confusing and long-winded and the way the amount of adverbs in it, was just killing me, and understand that now Stephen King can admit that thud was King his worst book and he wrote this when he was 19 years old, so it makes sense that now he’s writing style completely changed with that said after reading this book, it took me a long time to try something by him again
